There’s a saying in the fitness industry that, “ABs are made in the kitchen “I’m sure I’ve mentioned that in the past. In fact ABs are developed in the gym and exposed in the kitchen. Just because somebody has a bit of “doona” (Fat stores) around their belly doesn’t necessarily mean they have no strength or development in that region - that in fact goes for the whole body as well, for instance some weight lifters, heavy weight boxers, shot putters and Hammer throwers are all very quick twitch fibre athletes and have lots of those fibre types in their muscles, in fact some are almost elite sprinters over short distances (up to 100m) - the look or appearance of these boys or girls would be that they are either overweight or morbidly obese (Particularly when using BMI testing which has barely any relevance relating to athletes) Due to the amount of Lean muscle their bodies.

Nutrition plays a massive part in defining ones “visual health mark” - and unfortunately people can come under the scrutiny for achieving great results derived from their dedication to one’s self (I’m not talking about problem eaters or those diagnosed with eating disorders)  Simply those willing to do something that is different to everybody else, eating healthy or systematically.

Once a person seems to reach a healthy look it’s not too long before criticism comes from the shadows that you have lost too much weight, and even the old - “well it won’t be long before He/she stacks it back on.”

It’s bloody sad that there are people that harbour this attitude - sure there’s enough evidence out there to support this kind of statement but a bit more support rather than cast doubt on to those who are having a go - it may just swing the ledger back into positive territory for those putting themselves out there with a positive nudge rather than any other remark..

I see it like that new Quit smoking add - the one that has the person persisting with quitting the one that a guy has tried time and again to give up he lapses then has another go and so on - You know don’t quit giving up - Giving Up! Because, you’ll eventually you’ll build the resilience to succeed!

It’s an interesting quandary I suppose people love to see others succeed - but not too much. Interesting to see in my industry there are the- “fanatics”- who if you look at it from their point of view they’re not fanatical their just committed, they find a system they like and pursue it like a professional world champion no matter what they just do what it takes - in fact they sometimes are far more professional than the experts out there in the field!  To these guys I can only admire them and hope they set a good example what is possible if all you do is put your mind to it.

As Nike put it Just do it, Whatever “It” is.
